I am an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Pierre Laclede Honors College at the University of Missouri-Saint Louis. Before coming to UMSL, I taught courses in Hebrew Bible and Religious Studies and in a variety of different interdisciplinary core programs at Saint Louis University, Hampden-Sydney College, Valparaiso University, and the University of Virginia.

My research focuses on the history of biblical interpretation and the choices readers make when they are confronted with ethical, practical, or hermeneutic difficulties in biblical texts. I am currently working on one book about the reception of conflicts between biblical narrators in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and another about the storied and often surprising reception history of ravens in the Bible.
